KUMITE : MALE AND FEMALE

Age                : 5,  6,  7,  8,  9,  10

Age 11/12      : Two weight groups

Age 13/14      : Two weight groups

Age 15/16      : Two weight groups

Age 17/18      : Two weight groups

Over 18          : -55 , -65 , +65kg

SABAKI       : -65 , -75 , +75kg (Brown and Black Belts only)

WTF Taekwondo : divisions will be created dependant on entries

** It is compulsory for all Junior competitors to produce a copy of their I.D. or Birth Certificate. Failure to comply will lead to disqualification.

** NB. In the event that there are not sufficient competitors in any specific division, then that division will be merged with the division closest to it.

First held in 1987 in Cape Town, the Sabaki Challenge Karate Championships merged in 1996 with the annual Invitational Championships.
Since then, it has grown into an International Tournament with hundreds of competitors from all over.

The World Kumite Championships to be held in Pattaya, Thailand will be an event that will showcase the true spirit of the Martial Arts and have the top fighters in the World.  Ashihara Karate will be there and it is our intention to use the Sabaki Challenge  to select fighters for future WKO events.

In 2010, South Africa will be hosting the Soccer World Cup as well as the World Cup for Ashihara Karate. Will you be part of this prestigious event celebrating 30 Years of Ashihara Karate?
